Blackspots are clusters computed by CrimeScope from Department for Transport STATS19 collision records: reported collisions of any severity are grouped into roughly 150-metre cells and scored by severity (fatal weighted heaviest). They are indicative of long-run risk, not an official designation, and roads may since have been altered.
STATS19 covers Great Britain only; Northern Ireland collisions are published separately by PSNI and are not yet included. Data is published annually and runs about a year behind.
