Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 1 September 2026.

1. Who you are contracting with

CrimeScope UK (the "Service") is operated by CrimeScope ("we", "us"). By creating an account or continuing to use the Service you agree to these terms. You confirm you are of legal age, or that you have authority to bind the organisation you represent.

2. The Service

CrimeScope UK maps serious crime from police open data, published outcomes, Department for Transport road casualty statistics and publicly reported police appeals and news coverage. Locations are approximate and anonymised. The Service is informational only; it is not a substitute for contacting the police, and nothing on it should be relied on as legal, safety or investigative advice. In an emergency call 999.

3. Acceptable use

You must not use the Service for anything unlawful, and in particular you must not:

4. Accounts

You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for activity under your account, and for giving us accurate information and keeping it up to date.

5. Intellectual property

We retain ownership of the Service, its software, design and branding. You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service under the plan you have selected. Underlying public data remains subject to its own licences, including the Open Government Licence v3.0.

6. Payment and subscriptions

CrimeScope Pro is a recurring subscription billed monthly or yearly at the price shown at checkout, renewing automatically until cancelled. Payment, billing, tax, cancellation and refund mechanics are governed by Paddle's Buyer Terms. You can cancel at any time from the billing portal; access continues until the end of the paid period.

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.

7. Service level and warranties

We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free or complete. Data is supplied by third parties and may be delayed, partial or inaccurate. To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.

8. Liability

We exclude liability for indirect, consequential or special losses, including loss of profits, data or goodwill. Our aggregate liability is capped at the fees you paid in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing excludes liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any liability that cannot be excluded by law. You indemnify us against claims arising from your unlawful use of the Service or breach of these terms.

9. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate access for material breach, non-payment, security or fraud risk, or repeated or serious policy violations. On termination your access ends and your saved areas and alert settings may be deleted after a reasonable export window.

10. General

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. You may not assign these terms without our consent; we may assign them as part of a merger or acquisition. Neither party is liable for delays caused by events beyond their reasonable control. We may update these terms and will post the revised version here.
