- Marketing emails, if you opt in — legal basis: consent, withdrawable at any time.
Payment card details are never collected or seen by us; they are handled by our payment provider.
Who we share data with
- Service providers and subprocessors: hosting, database, email delivery and error monitoring.
- Paddle.com Market Ltd, our Merchant of Record, for the sale of subscriptions, subscription management, payments, tax compliance and invoicing.
- Professional advisers (legal, accounting) where necessary.
- Authorities and law enforcement where required by law.
We do not sell your personal data. Public crime data shown in the app is aggregated and anonymised at source and never includes named victims or suspects supplied by users.
International transfers
Some providers process data outside the UK/EEA. Where that happens we rely on UK adequacy regulations or Standard Contractual Clauses with appropriate safeguards.
Retention
Account, saved-area and alert data is kept while your account is open and deleted or anonymised within 90 days of account closure. Technical logs are kept for up to 12 months. Billing records are retained by Paddle and by us as required by tax law (generally 6 years).
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, or object to processing based on legitimate interests, and withdraw consent at any time. Email support@crimescope.uk and we will respond within one month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encryption in transit, row-level access controls on our database, and restricted administrative access.
Cookies and local storage
We use essential cookies and browser storage only — to keep you signed in and to remember your last search. We do not use advertising cookies. You can clear or block them in your browser settings, though sign-in will stop working.
