Cookie Notice
Last updated: 1 September 2026.
CrimeScope UK uses a small number of cookies and browser storage entries. We do not use advertising cookies and we do not sell or share your browsing data.
Strictly necessary
- Authentication session — keeps you signed in so saved areas and alerts work. Set only after you sign in. Expires when the session ends or you sign out.
- Cookie notice (
crimescope-cookie-consent) — remembers that you saw the cookie banner so it stops appearing. Stored for 12 months in your browser's local storage. - Checkout — our payment provider (Paddle) sets cookies during checkout to complete and secure a payment.
These are required for the site to work and cannot be switched off.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics on every page to record anonymous usage counts (pages viewed, searches run) so we can understand which areas and features people use. It sets the standard Google Analytics cookies (_ga, _ga_*) which last up to 13 months. No advertising cookies are used, and no crime search is linked to your identity.
Preferences kept on your device
Your last search radius, time period and map preferences are kept in your browser's local storage so the map opens the way you left it. They never leave your device.
Third parties
- Google Analytics — anonymous usage measurement (see Analytics above).
- Google Maps — renders the map and may set cookies as part of that service.
- Paddle — payment processing and VAT compliance during checkout.
Changing your choice
Clear this site's data in your browser settings and the banner will appear again on your next visit. You can also block or delete cookies entirely in your browser — the map and search will still work, but you will not be able to stay signed in.
More about how we handle personal data is in our Privacy Notice.
